Emotional Intelligence as a Factor of Personnel Competitiveness Increase in the Labour Market

Abstract

The article is devoted to one of the factors contributing to predict a person's success in his career and in everyday life and ensure effective interaction with the colleagues based on emotional communication with effective management of his own emotions. The authors outlined the essence of the concept of "emotional intelligence", found out when this concept first appeared, and how it was subsequently transformed into the "concept of emotional literacy". Having identified the main components of emotional intelligence model, the data obtained in a number of studies conducted by both Russian and foreign scientists on the basis of scientific laboratories of higher educational institutions, the largest recruiting agencies were analyzed. On their basis the authors concluded that success and effectiveness of job performance are directly related to the level of emotional development of employees’ intelligence, especially those in senior positions. Thus, representatives of top management demonstrated higher average score on various indicators related to measuring the level of development of emotional intelligence compared with the ordinary employees. Then the authors examined the features of one of the most popular methods for assessing emotional intelligence indicators related to self-assessment competence, and listed a number of ways to increase emotional literacy level.
