Digital Currencies of Central Banks in the Modern World

Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC) act as an interesting phenomenon, presenting one of the most promising areas for the development of global and national finances digitalization. Acting as an alternative to both traditional financial asset transactions and crypto currencies, CBDCs are designed to guarantee affordable, fast, secure and transparent transactions. CBDC development and implementation is taking place in dozens of countries around the world today. Under these conditions, there is an objective necessity to study the features, problems and prospects of CBDC implementation, in particular, medium-term. The article presents the analysis of CBDC implementation in the world at the present stage, with an emphasis on the regional specifics of this process, since the intensity and logic of CBDC implementation in different countries of the world are characterized by their specifics. Based on the analysis of a large-scale analytical database and the most relevant research, the advantages and problems of implementing digital currencies of central banks are described. The article also provides a look at the medium-term prospects for CBDC development in various regions of the world.Downloads
